Workplace Safety Course for School Leavers

Description:This course is to empower school leavers with knowledge about occupational safety, or job safety, before entering the workplace as a new employee
Attendees: Grade 9 (where applicable) and Grade 12 learners

Cost: There are two options for payment, namely parents or the school can allocate funds. The standard individual attendance is R1490,00
Groups of 50 learners or more qualify for 40% reduction in fees. A marketing letter to the parents is available to schools wanting to inform parents of this opportunity, please advise by requesting a quotation

It is essential for places of learning to provide a safe environment to learners and others. Evaluation of our standards and procedures enables improvement, growth and compliance. Documents and records enables accountability, replacing the need to clarify our efforts or standards verbally.

Premises and Safety File Evaluation

Description:This service commences at the school premises, identifying opportunity for improvement with regard to physical aspects and aspects related to the school safety file.
This service identifies opportunities relating to what is currently identifiable, based on the physical environment as it presents currently and the nature of the safety file at that point in time.
A written report and improvement plan will be provided to effect practical changes in the school environment.
The nature of this exercise is re-active and related to the current state of affairs in a short term context.
Cost: The relevant aspects of the school will determine the cost, namely:

  • Grade RR and Grade R
  • Grade R to Grade 7
  • Grade 1 to Grade 12
  • Residential accommodation
  • Workshops and Kitchens

Risk Assessment

Ref. No. B302

Description:This service commences at the school premises or may be initiated with detailed information provided by the school.
The aim is to determine intrinsic risk pertaining to physical and abstract aspects, such as structures, equipment, machines, chemicals, storage, fences, gates, transport, activities and behaviour.
Risk assessment is not focused on current challenges such as maintenance requirements, rather the focus is on potential concerns in order to identify and implement pro-active measures to prevent harm or damage.
A written report and improvement plan will be provided to effect practical changes in the school environment.
The nature of this exercise is pro-active and not related to the current state of affairs, rather to ensure safe conditions in a long term context.
Cost: The nature and scope of aspects of the school will determine the cost.

School Safety Audit

Ref. No. B303

Description:This service reflects on the safety standards and the level of legal compliance the school has archived and relates to ISO 45001.
It is recommended that B301 and B302 are performed before the formal audit is undertaken as Premises and Safety File Evaluation and Risk Assessment are crucial for improvement and to form a basis for the School Safety Audit.
Should the school however have a high level of confidence pertaining to the implemented school safety system it would be logical to perform a ISO 45001 audit, which will reflect alignment level with the international standard for schools.
